Technology has shaped our world more than we sometimes care to admit. That’s fine, it has to be accepted. In this evolving tech world, apps are something we may not even notice how much we use. In the morning, you may check email, Facebook, your bank balance, Twitter – well that’s four apps before you even get out of bed. And of course, they help us in our every day lives.
Plus, apps are forever improving and changing. It’s hard to keep up, but we’ve got a two-part series on some apps we’re particularly fond of this year.
This week, we're going to help you be productive and stay in-the-know.
Chrome Remote Desktop?– Syncs your computer so that you can get access from another desktop, or allow someone else to have access to yours. It’s free and runs on virtually any desktop device, including Windows and Mac.
CloudMagic – Helps you manage all your emails from one place. It works on any iOS or Android device. Cards is a feature within the app that lets you send the contents of your mail to a variety of popular tools such as Salesforce, OneNote, Pocket, ZenDesk and more.
Evernote – A fancy reminder app that allows you to make lists, snap a picture, save a voice note, save favourite links, save itineraries, confirmations, scanned travel documents, maps, and plans. It’s a cross-platform app that shares on any Windows, Apple or Android device, and allows users of the app to upload 60MB of content monthly.
Buffer – If you’re social media savvy, then Buffer can help you with your posts, tweets and other content. You can send immediately or schedule them to go out when and where – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. - you want. You can also get detailed metrics on clicks, retweets, likes, comments, shares, mentions and more. The app works on your Apple or Android device.
Dropbox – The app is a fantastic go-to for your cloud storage or sharing needs. Share photos, documents, links, files and more, which can be accessed anywhere, or downloaded for offline use.
Flipboard – is like your own personal news or magazine. You decide the content gathered from your favourite news, magazines or blogs, and swipe to “flip” the pages and read content. The slick-looking app works on your favourite Apple, Windows, Android or BlackBerry device.
News360 – This personalized news app for your Android, Apple or Windows device gathers content from more than 10,000 sources, and allows personalization for what you want to read. Can also be saved for offline reading, and it looks nice, too.
Newsy – A multi-source video news app for your Apple, Android, Windows or BlackBerry device. This easy-to-use app gets you video highlights of the day’s news from around the world, with categories such as top news, politics, tech, entertainment and sports.
Feedly – Delivers content from your favourite websites and blogs. This app fills the RSS void Google Reader left behind. Feedly allows for quick sharing and gives you the ability to save articles to read later or offline.
Circa – A app that grabs the most important news highlights or breaking news for you in easy-to-read snippets, letting you see the latest updates first before flicking your way downward to get more of the news story’s background. Next week, c'mon back to check out our feature apps for your health, travel and lifestyle.
